We want to talk about what's good

I thought it might be fun to start a little "what we're into right now" section on the website to hold us all over in between episodes of the podcast. It's just a little bit of this and that Brice and I are putting our attention towards at the moment. Could be books, TV shows or movies; but simply what is tickling our fancy right at that moment.

To me, there is nothing better than a great book and a cozy chair. Maybe some snacks and a fire. Add a glass of wine...or the bottle (no judgement amongst friends). But the key component is the book. If I can speak for Brice, and I guess I will since I'm writing this and he isn't, books aren't on his list of top things to do with his time. So there will be times that we will talk about shows or docu-series we have watched as well here. I will begrudgingly mention, that most of the time, I have been forced to sit and watch something by my loving husband, that I end up liking pretty well but never would have watched on my own.

First off, I have to give a shout out to my fellow book nerds at work for always having the best book suggestions. Because I read so much (you will learn this about me if you stick around here), I find that I constantly have lists for my next reads everywhere; On my notes in my phone, on a Pinterest board and of course on my Amazon wish list. Yet, even within my attempt at organization, I still manage to miss good books and these ladies have given me some much appreciated suggestions.

This first book I'm going to mention is just such a recommendation.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

Have you ever read a book that you thought you had figured out right away and then had your mind blown when you were so mixed up it was laughable? The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides did this to me. The story begins with you knowing exactly what crime is committed, by who and you think you know why. But do you really? Through the rest of the story you learn that nothing is ever what it seems, even when it seems just too obvious. I could have read this in a day, easily. But I had to force myself to put it down and pace myself. I don't want to give anything away, so I am simply going to say...READ THIS NOW.

Do it, you will thank me.

On another note, we got wrapped up in "Locke & Key", a new series on Netflix based on a graphic novel by the same name. I mistakenly thought this was a YA series, kinda like "A Series of Unfortunate Events", and wasn't expecting the dark twists and turns that quickly take place. My mistake! This is not for kids, ladies and gentlemen. It isn't graphically violent, but there are some themes and heavy topics such as alcoholism, mental health and gun violence that are delved into. There is also some strong language scattered throughout the show. That being said, this is one of the more unique storylines in a show that I've seen in a little while. Kind of a Harry Potter type magical thriller. If you need a new show to binge, I would recommend you check it out.

So, let us know if you check these out and what your thoughts are. We want to hear from our listeners and start the convos that help us find cool shit to keep ourselves entertained.
